The monitor stops polling for the server when 'stop' is invoked, so it is unaware that the server has been started using a different method. To poll continuously would seem to be an unnecessary overhead.

I will mention in user documentation that if the server is started using any other method, to 'Connect' the monitor using the provided option, to resume polling.
