Hi Sanjiva et al.,

Thanks for the intro. As you mentioned, Ajith and I are working on a
Web API Mashup platform. That is it's a collection of Web
application tools, libraries (DSL in our world), models, and example
mashups, to make the development, management, and deployment of Web
API mashups relatively easy.

We focus on having a unified model for Web APIs as well as mashups.
Our goals is to make the process collaborative (in the spirit of
Yahoo Pipes) but also having various tools on top (some targetted for
end-users like Pipes and some for more advanced developers like the
GEditor).

Some key differences are that we are doing this exclusively in Ruby
on Rails. This has various advantages. For instance we have some
DSLs to make accessing different Web APIs relatively easy and other
DSLs for other aspects. Finally, RoR comes out of the box with an
excellent architecture (MVC) as well as philosophy that we are
adopting. Of course RoR also has tons of nice features to make AJAX
development easy as well as accessing a DB.

We have a DRAFT paper of the initial thoughts and progress on the
mashup DSL. It's under review for a conference. If you want to see
this then let me know and I'll forward to you. Once published, we
will be happy to post a link.

Our focus this summer is to complete the platform. Including DSLs as
well as the initial tooling.

If you want more details then let us know. Ajith, feel free to jump
in as well.

BTW, I just arrive in Vienna and will be in Europe for two weeks.
Couple of workshops, a talk, conference, and vacation :-)

I might be slow responding or respond at odd hours.

Cool. We should plan this for end of June or in July. My Euro trip
will slow my June activities.

See above. Sorry about delay. I was in transit from SFO to London
then London to Vienna. About 22 hours total and hardly any space or
time to do anything but read, movies, and sleep.

Best,

max
