Java Platforms have dominated server-side Java development for the past 10 years. The extension of Platform into the Cloud has created a new environment for developers to code, deploy and run applications in. In this session Paul Fremantle, CTO and Co-Founder of WSO2, will look into Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS):

WSO2 CTO and Co-Founder Paul Fremantle recently spoke at the 500-strong Forrester Enterprise Architecture Forum 2011, held on February 17-18 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. He presented a case study on one of the world's highest-volume Web API deployments running at more than 500 million transactions per day, discussing how the open source WSO2 ESB helped this high-profile customer achieve higher availability, simpler architecture, and better scalability with significant saving in hardware resources and human intervention. Interestingly, his remarks not only explored the impact of SOA but also the challenges of creating and managing ultra scale systems.

This talk was presented by Dr. Srinath Perera at ICWS 2010. The IEEE International Conference on Web Services (ICWS) has been a prime international forum for both researchers and industry practitioners to exchange the latest fundamental advances in the state of the art and practice of Web services, identify emerging research topics, and define the future of Web-based services.
