Covalent Webinar: Axis to Axis2: Seamless Migration using WSAS

The next in the series of webinars for 2007 will be "Axis to Axis2: Seamless Migration using WSAS" presented by Glen Daniels, Director of Java Platforms for WSO2, a Covalent partner company. Glen has more than 20 years of experience in the software industry as a developer, manager, consultant, and strategist. He has been involved with the Apache Software Foundation (where he serves as Vice President of Web Services) since 2000, and led the creation of the Axis project.

Axis, the Web Services toolkit from the Apache Software Foundation, has been a mainstay of the Java world since 2002. Now, in 2007, Axis2 is the current state-of-the-art at Apache. It is faster and more flexible than Axis, but unfortunately the APIs are not natively backwards-compatible. So what can you do if you'd like to take advantage of the new features and support for the WS-* specs in Axis2, but you can't afford to rebuild all your services?

This webinar will cover WSO2's WSAS (Web Services Application Server) product, and, in particular, its support for hosting native Axis services. WSAS is a 100% open source product built around Axis2 by many of the same developers who built Axis2. It makes Axis2 more "user friendly" with tools and GUIs, and adds more features such as Axis hosting, data services, and more. We'll show you how easy it is to take your unmodified Axis services and move them into an Axis2-enabled world, and we'll discuss the strengths and limitations of this approach vs. moving fully to Axis2.
