Mashup 2.0 - Gadget dashboard

I am new to WSO2 Mashup. But came across the ability to leverage google gadget dashboard from within the Mashup server. http://wso2.org/library/3813 This article is related to version 1.5. How can we enable shindig integration in Mashup 2.0 Thanks

Hi, We now have a separate project dealing with presentation aspects (the WSO2 Gadget Server) and it will be coming out of the incubator soon. It is based on Apache Shindig and is more powerful than the beta version we had inside the Mashup Server. Please bear with us till we add the final touches necessary to release it. thanks. Tyrell

Hi Tyrell, In my research recently, I found that the WSO2 2.0 does not contain a dashboard component or a gadget container, so I tried to build a sample gadget on WSO2 2.0, and then deployed on dashboard in WSO2 1.5.1. But it did not work until we built a gadget and also deployed it in WSO2 1.5.1. Could you reply me about how to solve this problem? Moreover, I want to ask you when WSO2 Gadget Server will be released? I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks, Thanh

Hi Thanh, Gadgets deployed in 2.0 (or any web server capable of hosting HTML) should run in the 1.5.1 dashboard. But make sure you give the HTTP URL (and the Gadget XML is not behind a firewall) when adding a Gadget to your Dashboard. On Gadget Server; We are planning a release by early December and will let you know as soon as a release candidate is available. Hope this helps, Tyrell

Hi Tyrell, If WSO2 developing team finish the implementation of WSO2 Gadget Server, we can use the dashboard like a iGoogle in cooperation with WSO2 Mashup Server and Gadget Server. Is that right? Best regards, Thanh

Yes. That's one of the common use cases we have in mind. MS as the composition platform and GS as the presentation manager. The Gadget Server will also have a Gadget Repository where you can store, comment and rate Gadgets among other features. thanks, Tyrell

Error when sign in as user in Mahup 2.0.0

Hi, Tyrell And one more thing : in version 2.0.0, when I create new user, but I cannot sign in by that user. It always popups message "Login failed...." although I input correct username and password Is it a bug of Mashup Server 2.0.0 ? Thanks, Thanh

WSO2 2.0 gadget

Hi, I am new to WSO2 Mashup Server, I have a problem when puting gadget built by WSO2 2.0 into the dashboard in WSO2 1.5.1. The error message with the red color inform that the server connection fail. Could you help me to solve this problem? I have attached the source code, file gadget.xml as well as the picture of error message. Thanks, Tuan

Hi Tuan, I tried this scenario and it worked as expected. Here are the steps that I followed. Started Mashup Server 1.5.2 and 2.0.0 parallely Created the mashup helloworld.js in 2.0.0 Generated the Gadget and saved it from the Mashup Editor The URL to access this Gadget was http://172.16.47.1:9763/services/helloworld/gadget.xml (Note http and the port) Launched the Dashboard of 1.5.2 Went to Add Gadgets and entered the URL as http://172.16.47.1:9763/services/helloworld/gadget.xml The Gadget was added to the Dashboard as expected Hope this helps, Tyrell

Did you add the new user to a role? This role "must", at least have "login" permission for the new user to be able to log in to the server. Tyrell
