Registry user management - Can not see meta-data without "system configuration" permission?!

Warning - Newbie here!! I've been playing around with the registry for some time now, but I can't seem to figure out why the user management does not allow me to view services without the "System Configuration" permission. I've created a new role called USERS and assigned it the following permissions: - Login to admin console - Upload services - Manage services - Manage mediation Now, I go back and create a new user and assign it to the above mentioned group. I log out and then back in, using the new credentials. Every time I do that, I can see the heading "Metadata" but nothing appears underneath it. Logging in as admin again and changing the permissions for the USERS group to include: - Manage system configuration allows me to see the meta-data. This however is quite trouble-some, because that would mean all users can shut-down the environment :) Is there an easy way to control this? If so, how would I go about it? I like the product, but these permissions are driving me nuts :( Thanks in advance CyR

Hi CyR, We are in the process of fixing the permission model for the next major release of G-Reg. The current is far from complete and allows only a few basic stages of filtering. However, if you still need a detailed permission hierarchy before the release, you may do so by modifying the source in the User Manager Kernel. Should you need to do this, please drop a mail to the developer mailing list for G-Reg. The amount of lines needed per change shouldn't exceed 20 in most cases. Thanks, Senaka.

Thanks Senaka, I already

Thanks Senaka, I already suspected that ... I am more than happy to wait for the next upcoming release. Just out of curiosity, would you happen to know a more detailed schedule for the g-reg road-map? When do you think the next version will be released? Can you point me to any link, outlining the upcoming releases? Thanks in advance ... Cyr

Re: Thanks Senaka, I already

Hi Cyr, We will be doing two releases of G-Reg within the course of the next 5-6 months. The first will be a patch release, 3.0.1, which will have various bugs uncovered in the 3.0.0 release fixed. This should be publicly available within 4-5 weeks from today, unless we run into some serious issues that need to be fixed. The next would be a major release of G-Reg, (3.x.0 - we haven't still decided on the number) which will happen somewhere in December 2009, or January 2010. The dates are not yet scheduled. While the roadmap for G-Reg has not yet been updated, you should find the current plan at [1]. We will be updating this page by the time the 3.0.1 release is ready. To outline a few features, we hoping to have, 1. Inbuilt G-Reg As A Service (GAAS) support (a multi-tenant G-Reg) 2. Improved permission model 3. More event types and notification methods 4. Handler configuration user interface 5. Lifecycle configuration user interface 6. Improved Service Governance (including service discovery and UDDI support) 7. More reports/metrics available via the Dashboard Please note that the list above is a mere draft, and that there can be a few additions and deletions to what I have mentioned above.
