Possible to implement SmartCard auth in front of WSO2?

I'm curious about using a SmartCard for authentication into WSO2, and using our WSO2 instance as the SSO for our other services that we plan to implement. Adding in new service providers seems pretty simple in the identity server interface, but I'm having trouble finding a good way to possibly add my intended authentication method out in front. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this type of authentication replacement even feasible with WSO2? Thanks for your help, Kyle
