Srinath Perera

Srinath works as an Architect at WSO2, a research Scientist at Lanka Software Foundation, and teaches as Visting Faculty at University of Moratuwa.
He contributes to Apache opesource projects since 2003. He is a member of Apache Software foundation, a PMC member of the Apache Web Service project, and a committer of Apache Axis, Axis2, and Geronimo, and a co-founder of Apache Axis2.
His primary research interest is distributed systems, and did his dissertation on managing large scale systems in range of tens of thousands of servers. In last 5 years he has worked on on Web services, E-science, and Grid based systems. At Indiana University, he has been involved with a large-scale E-Science project called LEAD, Linked Environments for Atmospheric Discovery, which is an 11 university effort to support faster than real-time weather predictions in US scale through a SOA architecture.
In general, he is interested in problems related to distributed architectures, distributed communication models (e.g. Pub/Sub system, P2P systems, Group communications, Gossip), and their scalability characteristics. Currently he focuses on SOA platform architecture, it performance and scalability characteristics, and their applications in wide range of settings, specially in E-Science.
Srinath holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Moratuwa, an M.Sc. in Computer Sciences and a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from Indiana University.
He enjoys reading, watching movies, and photography when he can find time.
